Later, she was stripped of her Miss California USA crown for alleged breaches of contract. She has worked as a model for Saks Fifth Avenue, Target, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom. Prejean released her memoir, Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attacks in November 2009. Born Caroline Michelle Prejean on May 13, 1987 in San Diego, California, to parents Francine and Wilbert Prejean, she is of French descent on her father’s side, and of Italian descent on her mother’s side.
