Cheryl James is an American rapper and songwriter, best known as a member of the American Grammy–award winning female rap trio Salt-N-Pepa, along with Pepa and Spinderella. The group is best known for their hit song ‘Let’s Talk About Sex,’ which went certified gold and peaked at #13 on the US Charts in 1991. Her Salt-N-Pepa hit song, “Push It”, was ranked #37 on VH1’s “100 Greatest Dance Songs”. Salt starred in The Salt-N-Pepa Show, a reality TV series that aired on VH1 in 2008.

In 1983, James graduated from the Grover Cleveland High School, in Queens, New York City, and enrolled at Queensborough Community College to study nursing.
