Karen David is an Indian-born Canadian and British actress, singer and songwriter. She is best known for her portrayal of Princess Isabella Maria Lucia Elizabetta of Valencia on ABC’s fairytale-themed musical-comedy television series, Galavant, and for her role as Francesca “Cesca” Montoya in the BBC television series Waterloo Road and Layla in the American action film The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior. She is also known for her roles as Angela in the ITV television series Cold Feet, and Princess Jasmine (from Aladdin) in the American television series Once Upon a Time and legend hunter Alexia Alderton in the popular British children’s television show Pixelface. David’s other notable works include Legacies, Fear the Walking Dead, Criminal Minds, Castle, and Strike Back: Project Dawn. As a singer, she has released songs “It’s Me (You’re Talking To)” and “Hypnotize. Born Karen Shenaz David on April 15, 1979 in Shillong, India, she has an older sister named Tracy. David’s father is an Indian-Jewish, whereas her mother is Khasi and half Chinese. She was raised in Canada, and moved to London to study at the Guildford School of Acting, when she was seventeen.
