He is best known as a part of the well-known hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, known for the hits like “Thrift Shop,” “Same Love,” and “Can’t Hold Us.” In 2014, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won four Grammys, including the prize for Best New Artist, and released their sophomore effort This Unruly Mess I’ve Made two years later. Born Ryan S. Lewis on March 25, 1988 in Spokane, Washington, to parents Julie and Scott Lewis, Lewis has two older sisters named Teresa and Laura. He was educated at Ferris High School, Roosevelt High School, and University of Washington. Lewis met Macklemore on Myspace in 2006 and began working together in 2008.
